Hassan Academy Education for Special Children

School & College Co-education
Hassan Academy Special Education (HASE) has been operating for 25 years now and has been providing education for the deaf and dumb with the help of donations and charity. The team running the place consists of self-less people who give time, attention and care to their students. The school started as a small set up in Mehrabad, Rawalpindi and now has two branches in the city. It has also opened up a brand in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad. Today it caters to children with down syndrome, autistic, mentally challenged, slow learners and even normal children who cannot afford other schools. Its vision is to offer “equal opportunities in life for all special children.” It runs classes from Pre-Nursery to Graduation. It also offers vocational training to help students attain skills that will increase their employability.
HASE was established in 1993. It is a project of the Educational Welfare Society for disabled children. It is registered under the Provincial Directorate of Social Welfare and is recognized by the Federal Ministry of Special Education, Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, Islamabad and documented by the University of Punjab as a “Good practicing model of Inclusive Education”.
The Mehrabad branch was the first branch. Children from Rawalpindi as well as from far places like Kashmir, Bannu and Sindh study at this school as day scholars and hostilities. According to Dr. Hassan, the President, if these children are educated and well-guided, they can become an important part of society. He believes that if the government, public and commercial organizations work together, a network of educational institutes can be developed for such students. HASE tailors its educational facilities to meet the needs of individual students. Parents who cannot afford expenses are accommodated via financial assistance.
